KATRA, Sept 6: Katra Police today raided a restaurant at Kunya Panthal and recovered a large number of liquor bottles and beer canes of J&K Excise s.
Even as owner of the restaurant is absconding, Police arrested one person who was serving the liquor. There were complaints from locals that the said restaurant was illegally selling liquor in the holy town.
Acting on the complaints, Katra Police today raided the Grace Restaurant and apprehended one person namely Ajay Kumar Sharma of village Gharota, Tehsil Billawer District Kathua. Police recovered 69 number of liquor bottles, 23 number of liquor quarters of J&K Excise and 35 number of beer canes from his possession.
Owner of the restaurant, identified as Mr Pankaj, who was running this illegal business, is absconding. According to Police, the owner used to sell and serve liquor in the restaurant.
In this connection, Police has registered a case FIR number 208/2019 U/S 48-F Excise Act at Police Station Katra. The arrest and recovery were made by SHO PS Katra Inspr Pardeep Gupta, assisted by SI Sanjeet Sharma, I/C PP Kakryal under the supervision of SDPO Katra Vivek Shekhar and ASP Katra Naresh Singh.
