SAMBA, Feb 18: Former Minister and Congress leader Manjit Singh urged the Union Government to go for one time settlement of the issues of refugees and displaced persons of 1947, 65 and 71.
Addressing a gathering of refugees in Vijaypur today, Mr Singh said that these refugees are struggling for the last several decades. They have failed to get their issues addressed. No serious thought was ever given towards their plight by the political leadership. They have been forced to protest on roads and take out protest rallies. He demanded that Government must move forward for the comprehensive settlement of the issues of these DPs without any further delay. He said there was also need to open an office which may listen to the grievances of refugees.
