Resolutions on beef ban rejected

JAMMU, Sept 30: Legislative Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta today rejected Resolutions moved by two BJP MLAs-Ravinder Raina and Rajiv Jasrotia proposing death penalty for sale of beef and strict enforcement of the High Court order on beef ban.
The Resolutions were rejected as the beef ban was matter of sub judice pending before the Supreme Court.
Gupta told the Excelsior that Resolutions moved by Raina and Jasrotia for autumn session of the Legislative Assembly beginning October 3 were rejected today as beef ban was sub judice in the Supreme Court.
Raina and Jasrotia, the BJP MLAs from Nowshera and Kathua respectively had moved private member’s Resolutions in the Assembly proposing death penalty for sale of beef and strict enforcement of Jammu and Kashmir High Court order for beef ban.
NC MLAs including Mohammad Akbar Lone, Ali Mohammad Sagar and Mian Altaf, CPM MLA MY Tarigami and an Independent MLA Engineer Rashid have moved private member’s bills in the Assembly seeking deletion of Sections from the Constitution that proposed ban on beef.
Reacting to rejection of his Resolution, Ravinder Raina said the BJP will not tolerate any disrespect shown towards cow in the Legislative Assembly.
