Residents seek attention of authorities towards wooden bridge

DODA, Aug 10: The residents of various villages have sought attention of the authorities towards the wooden bridge over river Chenab, here.
The residents said that the dilapidated condition of wooden foot bridge over Chenab river in Prem Nagar area is posing a serious risk to the lives of thousands of people.
President DRYWA Farid Ahmed Naik said the suspension wooden bridge over Chenab river was built in 1966, but its wooden flooring has not been changed since long.
The bridge has been damaged severally in different earthquakes and need immediate attention as wooden planks supporting the bridge are decaying and need immediate repair but the Government has turned blind eye towards it, he added.
A local resident Rakesh Kumar said that it is the only connectivity for the people residing in Dhara, Jatheli, Dongroo, Gundna, Mulwana, Pernote, Mohalla, Gulwana and many other villages and if this bridge collapsed, thousands of villagers will get affected.
The residents demanded immediate replacement of the wooden bridge so as to avert any untoward incident.
