Scores of residents assembled in the Press Enclave and raised slogans against the administration and demanded an inquiry into the matter without any delay.
They said that after the counting of the votes Khalida Bibi of PAGD was declared as the winner, however, after around 150 votes were rejected based on the seal used paving a way for the victory of an independent candidate.
“The seal that we were given, we used that while we cast our votes and then we come to know that the votes that had circular seal were rejected; this is the height that they rejected around 150 votes after more than 2 months,” Nazir Ahmad Padroo, a voter said.
The residents said that their votes have been wasted despite recounting twice. “We have used a circular seal which was provided us. We had not brought that from home. They gave us and we used it,” they said.
The residents said they either want the administration to either accept the seal on the votes that have been rejected or should carry out the re-polling.
“After recounting at the third time, they told us that those votes with the circular seal have been rejected. We have put our lives in danger and have voted. There is a need for reconsidering the decision. The administration should order re-polling or should accept the seal,” they said.
