KATHUA, May 20: The residents of Buddhi village and adjoining areas held protest over irregular water supply at Barnoti area on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway.
Large number of residents from Buddhi village and adjoining areas assembled at Jammu-Pathankote National Highway and held protest against Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department.
They raised slogans against the department and demanded regular water supply.
The protestors alleged that due to non-availability of drinking water, they are facing manifold problems.
“We apprised PHE officials about our problems due to water shortage, but they never paid heed towards this, which forced us to block the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway”, they added.
Due to protest, the vehicular movement on the National Highway came to standstill for couple of hours.
On getting information, PHE and police officers rushed to the spot and assured early redressal.
After the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the National Highway.
