Reshuffle of bureaucrats at Centre

NEW DELHI, Jan 9: Senior IAS officer Samir Kumar Sinha has been appointed as Additional Secretary and Director General (Acquisition) in the Defence Ministry, as part of a bureaucratic reshuffle effected by the Centre.
Sinha, a 1994-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, is currently working in his Assam-Meghalaya cadre.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment as Additional Secretary and Director General (Acquisition), Department of Defence, a Union Personnel Ministry order said.
Bharat Harbanslal Khera, a 1995-batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
Chandra Bhushan Kumar will be Additional Secretary as well as Mission Director for the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation’s Jal Jeevan Mission.
Puja Singh Mandol, currently Joint Director General in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the order said.
Sanjeev Kumar Jindal, at present a Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry, will now be Additional Secretary.
Asit Gopal, Commissioner of Eklavya Model Residential School of the National Educational Society for Tribal Students under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, has been named as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Textiles.
Senior bureaucrat Tripti Gurha will be Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
Meanwhile, the Centre has approved repatriation of senior IPS officer Rashmi Shukla to her cadre State Maharashtra, where she has been appointed as the chief of the State’s police force.
Shukla, a 1988 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, was posted as the Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) here.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for premature repatriation of Shukla to her parent cadre with immediate effect, said a Personnel Ministry order dated January 8.
The Maharashtra Government had last month issued an order appointing Shukla as the state’s Director General of Police (DGP).
The Centre has also upgraded the rank of Rahul Navin, the ED’s acting chief, to the Additional Secretary level, according to an official order.
Navin, a 1993-batch Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) officer, has been working as In-charge Director of the probe agency following the completion of Sanjay Kumar Mishra’s tenure on September 15 last year.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the in-situ upgradation of Navin as Special Director of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary, said the order issued by the Union Personnel Ministry.
The ACC has approved the upgradation of posts held by 11 officers, including Navin, to the level of additional secretary to the government of India.
Accordingly, Shubha Thakur will be Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sanjukta Mudgal in the Culture Ministry, Anant Swarup in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Navaljit Kapoor in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Manoj Pandey will now be Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Anurag Bajpai in the Department of Defence Production, Alok Pande in the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management and Sunil Kumar in the Department of Science and Technology, the order said.
Hanif Qureshi has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Anandrao Vishnu Patil in the Department of School Education and Literacy. (PTI)
