Reserved categories urge CM for political solution to reservation in promotions

JAMMU, May 29: Alleging puzzling stand of State Government on reservation in promotions, the members of reserved categories joined by various oorganisations of SC/ST/ OBCs in a meeting organised by Jammu Kashmir Reserve Categories Employees (JKRCEA) at Guru Ravi Dass Gurudwara, Bahu Fort, here today urged Mehbooba Mufti, Chief Minister, to immediately bring political solution to issue of reservation in promotions.
Dr Sanjay Bhasin, President of JKRCEA, who chaired this meeting, while addressing the conglomerate said that the people of reserve categories have lots of hope from power corridor but lackadaisical approach of State Government in dealing with the issue of reservation in promotion witnessed for past six months has become a cause of worry for these classes.
He also said that if the present coalition claims to carry along the aspiration of each region and section of society of the State, then they should come up with practical solution rather staging false promises. Dr Bhasin also told that the reserved categories people have been very closely observing not only by public representatives in Government but also those in opposition and all were clearly apprised about this issue that in case the reservation in promotions will not be restored in the ongoing Assembly session, these sections will be left with no other option than to launch mass agitation throughout the State.
Dr Zabeer Ahmed, general secretary of JKRCEA said that with the formation of new Coalition Government, the reserved classes pinned lots of hopes for overall development and welfare of reserved categories of J&K State. They also expected proper implementation of reservation in recruitment, promotion and all other developmental schemes but the way, the issue of reservation in promotion was dealt with by the Government a sense of insecurity was spreading among these sections.  The stand of Government not to contest in favour of its own law which is in consonance with Article 370, 35-A of Indian Constitution and Article 6 of J&K Constitution, shows an element of anti-reservation in policies of Government which is against the interests of reserved categories.
Sham Lal Basson, President Dalit Chetna Manch appealed for large scale social unity amongst SC, ST, OBC for long term goal of snatching political power from the micro minority of this country that comprises of only less than 10 percent.
Roshan Din Choudhary executive member of JKRCEA requested the State Government to immediately file objections in Supreme Court and defend its own Reservation Act or an appropriate bill may be passed in current session of State Assembly.
Among others who spoke on the occasion were Joginder Paul, Raj Kumar, Ved Prakash, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Dr Bias Dev, Brij Rana, Mohd Taj, Pawan Bhagat, Surjeet Singh Raina, Darshan  Kalsotra, Shah Mohd and Manoj Kumar.
