Reserved categories people hold rally, project demands

JAMMU, Nov 1: All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations organized a rally, in which large number of reserved categories people took part.
People from various social, religious and political parties across State participated. The participants in one voice demanded from the Government that their constitutional rights and privileges being barred by the High Court J&K should be restored forthwith by initiating the necessary remedial action.
They added that the Government has utterly failed in protecting the Constitutional rights and privileges of the reserved categories in the Court of Law.
Dr Udit Raj, MP and National Chairman of the Confederation said that Government has utterly failed in safeguarding the constitutional concessions provided to the reserved categories. He demanded remedial legal actions to restore reservation in promotion. He also gave a call to the people to participate in a rally to be held at Ramlila Ground, New Delhi on December 7 on this issue.
Addressing the gathering, RK Kalsotra cautioned the Government that the people are not concerned with Article 370 or other things, but are concerned with their constitutional rights. He added that the rights are being snatched under the calculated strategy and game plan and incase the Government failed to restore reservation in promotion within 15 days, the Confederation will launch a massive agitation at the district and tehsil levels.
All the heads of the participating organizations fully endorsed the demand of the Confederation.
Later, the rally marched towards the residence of Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum to the representative of the Government at Shaheedi Chowk. The demands include immediate inclusion of 77th, 81st, 82nd and 85th amendments of Constitution of India, protection of constitutional right of reservation in promotion, filling up of over fifty thousand backlog reserved vacancies, removal of marks criteria and amendment of income slabs on the analogy of Central Government norms for grant of scholarship, implementation of Mandal Commission Report/ Supreme Court Judgment for 27 per cent reservation to OBCs in the State, etc.
Among others present were Jagjivan Lal, Ram Paul, Sham Lal Basson, Bahadur Lal, Beeru Ram, ML Banalia, Parveen Jaryal, Ashiq Watal, Mohammad Arshad, Dr Shiv Kumar, Sabar Choudhary, Prof Raj Kumar Bhagat, Abdul Gani Teli, MS Bhatti, Ramesh Kaith, Mushtaq Badgami, etc.
