JAMMU, Apr 23: Research paper written by Dr Ajay Anand, Assistant Professor and co-authored by Dr Anchal Kotwal has been published in World journal of Medicine and Medical science research.
The paper dwells on rare management of duodenal injuries, which are rare to encounter and difficult to manage.
In series of duodenal injuries described over a period of three years, one of the patients in this series had complete circumferential double transection of first and third parts of duodenum, with laceration of superior mesenteric artery. This type of injury has never been reported in world literature so far.
Doctors from GMC, Jammu have credit of successfully managing this rare injury by adopting a novel technique of repair. A young patient with severe injury subsequent to trauma had laceration of superior mesenteric artery, right retroperitoneal hematoma, and complete circumferential transection at first and third parts of duodenum.
This very rare and grave injury was successfully managed by a novel technique performed by authors with successful outcome and recovery.
