JAMMU, Nov 20: Former minister J&K and senior Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney today claimed that repeal of farm laws is the defeat of BJP Government’s ago and arrogance.
Addressing a press conference here today Sawhney while commenting on the repeal of the three farm laws by the Modi Government, described it as the victory of the farmers’ struggle supported by a Congress-led Opposition.
Sawhney called the decision of the Union Government a “historic victory” for the farmers and the Opposition and stated that it is a testament to the immense power that people hold if they come together against an arrogant Government. The fight of the Congress party alongside our farmer brothers has finally culminated in defeat of Modi Government and has brought an end to these black laws.
“It is a defeat of the arrogance, ego and hollow pride of the BJP Government. And It is the victory of the farmers.  The fight does not end here because the Government’s move in the past has resulted in 700 farmers losing their lives, many were injured, thousands came to the streets and roads, away from their families for months at a time, and yet Prime Minister Modi in his address expressed no remorse or apology,” he added.
This move shows that anti-farmer BJP Government has lost in front of the farmers. After a long and hard struggle of the farmers that lasted 12 months, BJP government and an arrogant Prime Minister had to bend to the will and wishes of our farmers. But the nation will not forget the hardships they first imposed on farmers, the barricades that stopped them, and the lathis that were showered on them.
The former minister asked the Govt to settle MSP issue and withdraw excessive excise duty on diesel and taxes on agriculture implements.
Sawhney saisd many farmers were on roads for months and faced hardships and scores of lost their lives but there was not a word of regret in PM Modi’s speech for the farmers martyred in the struggle. There was no assurance that all false cases against the farmers would be withdrawn. There was no apology for the harsh words used against farmers.
Senior leaders Sahil Sharma spokesperson PCC, Ritu Choudhary Councillor JMC, Gajjan Singh, Dr Ramakant Khajuria, Sanjeev Sharma, Pawan Dev Singh, Varinder Singh Manhas and others accompanied Sawhney.
