Renovated ward open for public at DRPCOS in AIIMS

Director AIIMS, Prof RC Deka, inaugurating renovated General Ward 3A of Dr Rajendra Prasad Centre of Ophthalmologic Sciences.

JAMMU, Oct 5: The renovated General Ward 3A of Dr Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmologic Sciences (DRPCOS), AIIMS was inaugurated by Director, AIIMS, Prof RC Deka in the presence of Chief of the Centre, Prof RV Azad and Head of the Department of Hospital Administration and Medical Superintendent of the Centre, Dr Shakti Kumar Gupta.
The fully air-conditioned 36-bedded general ward has all the amenities at par with the private wards of the Institute.
Speaking on the occasion of opening of the Ward to the public, Dr Deka said this is the beginning of the endeavour to renovate all the remaining general wards also on similar lines. The care, safety and comfort of the general patient have been kept in mind while renovating the ward. This apex Centre headed by Prof RC Azad, receives patients from across India and caters to an OPD load of approximately 1400 patients per day, Dr Deka added.
Named after the first president of India, this Centre has continued to deliver eye care of highest standards in the public sector, Prof RV Azad said. He also informed that the Centre has already undertaken modernization efforts including revamping of the operation theatre and establishment of dedicated CT Scan and digital radiography as part of its mission to render world class eye care services to the general public.
Azad further informed that air-conditioning of the OPD, revamping of the medical records section, computerization of the wards and installation of modern signage are ongoing projects. Prepaid cash card facility for patients and Biometric Attendance system for the employees are also in the pipeline, he said, adding the administration has left no stone unturned in introducing the best technology as well as patient care services without compromising on quality and safety of the patients.
