Remove obsolete X-ray machine

Primary Health Centre Tangmarg in North Kashmir needs to remove an out of date X-ray machine from its premises as it is posing radiation risks to the patients. The machine brought as a temporary replacement for the one installed in the Health Centre developing some problems nearly ten years back is in the state of inertia. Neither is it repaired to be put to use nor removed from the Centre resulting in exposing patients to the hazardous associated risks .
In the absence of an updated and operative machine, nearly 70 percent of patients are referred to private clinics. It is not that the word had not been sent to the Government about the dangers posed by the outdated machine, but despite so many years having elapsed, no action is taken in this regard. All other hospitals and PHCs are having updated machines but this centre is bereft of that facility is what the visiting patients are complaining about.
The authorities concerned are not only in know of the fact and do admit the associated risks of the redundant X-ray machine but red tape(ism) and flaws of not taking timely decisions come in the way. We are hopeful that the matter would be resolved soon.
