NEW DELHI, Dec 2: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that remonetisation will make governance more citizen-centric and boost the Modi Government’s pro-poor agenda.
Speaking at the valedictory function of Foundation training course by Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM),affiliated to Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT),
Dr Jitendra Singh congratulated the new trainees for successful completion of their course and said that they were lucky to enter the services at an eventful time, when India was at the crossroads of creating a new history and accomplishing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of reaching out to the poorest of the poor.
He said, the remonetization exercise begun on 8th November is the most out-of-the-box initiative taken by any Government in the last 70 years of independent India and it is in keeping with the promise of maximum governance and minimum Government that the Modi Government had made soon after coming to power in May 2014. The money added through this drive will increase the banking capacities as well as the State exchequer, he said, and would help in creating governance which truly addresses the concerns of the poor,he added.
Describing the officials in administration as essential tools of governance, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the new trainees are going to take up crucial assignments and will be at the cutting-edge level of Central Secretariat functioning in Government of India. He expressed satisfaction that the new lot entering into the Central Secretariat has a much higher level of qualification and expertise than the earlier generation, which would not only enrich the administration but would also make it more oriented to the citizen of this country.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Modi Government is open to creative and innovative ideas and if the new officials entering into services wish to make a difference, they will also have to experiment with innovative ideas which are not out-rightly outrageous, but can change the fortunes of the poor. Under Prime Minister Modi, he said, the common people of this country look up with great hope and trust and, therefore, those handling the administration in governance would also have the responsibility of relating to the aspirations of common citizens of India.
A question and answer session was also held on the occasion, in which Dr Jitendra Singh enthused the young officials with his lucid and thought-provoking responses.
Those present at the function included  senior officers of DoPT Jishnu Barua, Archana Verma and Gyanendra Dev Tripathi, Director ISTM Dr Sunita H. Khurana, trainees and members of faculty.
