NEW DELHI : Cautioning the armed forces about the complex security scenario around India’s neighbourhood, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today stressed the need to remain vigilant all the time.
Addressing a seminar organised to commemorate the golden jubilee of 1965 India-Pakistan war, Mr Parrikar said the stories of valour of soldiers should be made part of the school text books so that coming generation are inspired by them. “Today’s generation must know the stories of valour of our soldiers,” he said.
Taking a dig at those commentators who say that the 1965 war was a ‘draw’ ,Mr Parrikar said Pakistan paid for its “misadventure”, and India clearly won the war.
The Defence Ministry is commemorating the victory of the 1965 war on a grand scale, even as most of the Army veterans are boycotting the official functions to protest against the delay in implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme. (AGENCIES)
