SRINAGAR, May 16: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today called upon citizens to remain vigilant and not fall prey to the misleading tactics employed by certain individuals for their own political gains.
“Over the past few days, a group of individuals have resorted to gimmicks and misinformation, prioritizing their personal politics over the welfare of the people,” the LG said while speaking during the Kisan Sampark Abhiyan event at Budgam today.
Sinha expressed his concern about these deceptive practices, emphasizing the need for citizens to make informed decisions based on accurate information. He urged the public not to pay heed to these individuals who were only focused on their own political ambitions.
“These individuals are using gimmicks and misdirection to deceive the public, with little regard for the well-being of our citizens. It is imperative that we do not allow ourselves to be misled by their selfish motives,” he said.
“Our responsibility as citizens is to stay informed, engage in constructive dialogue, and make decisions based on facts and the betterment of society. Let us not be swayed by petty politics and instead focus on the development and welfare of our community,” he added.
He urged citizens to prioritize their collective well-being over divisive agendas and stand together against those who seek to mislead and exploit for personal gain.
Without naming anyone, Sinha said that some self-interested individuals hampered the establishment of quality educational institutions and hospitals in J&K.
“Unfortunately, some self-interested individuals hamper the development as they prioritize sending their children abroad for education and sought medical treatment outside, hampering the establishment of quality educational institutions and hospitals here. These people have facilitated the back-door employment of persons lacking the necessary skills. While I refrain from naming or blaming anyone, it is disheartening to witness those who inherited these legacies now making grand claims,” he said.
The LG said that his administration won’t hesitate to act against any threat to the nation or the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“I request these individuals, with folded hands, to show compassion towards the youth who have already endured extensive destruction and bloodshed in Jammu and Kashmir. Let us prevent sisters from losing their brothers and mothers from losing their sons. We must not allow the creation of such dire circumstances. Our neighbors may attempt to sow discord, but we shall respond resolutely. However, I implore those from within our own community who are instigating such situations to desist from doing so. If such actions persist, we will be compelled to take stringent measures. We do not wish to take action against anyone, but we will not hesitate to act against any threat to the nation or the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
The LG sought collective efforts of the people of J&K for holding G20 summit.
“As you are all aware, the upcoming G20 summit fills the entire nation with pride. This event cannot be organized solely by the administration, it needs a collective effort of all citizens. Successfully hosting this summit holds tremendous potential. If we can convey a positive message to the G20 attendees, who represent three-fourths of the world’s population and contribute over 80% to the global GDP, it will greatly enhance our prospects for exporting handcrafted items, handloom products, carpets, pashmina, and horticultural produce,” he said.
“A few people have resumed their deceptive practices in the past few days, prioritizing their personal interests over the welfare of pashmina weavers and the global export of exotic vegetables grown by farmers. I sincerely request your active participation in this event, and I assure you that its success will lead to a 2.5-3% growth in Jammu and Kashmir’s exports over the next three years,” he said.
The LG said that the efforts are underway to promote economic self-sufficiency in Jammu and Kashmir, which has historically been a hub of knowledge and wisdom. “The revered Sharda Peeth has provided guidance to the entire nation, and it is our aspiration to restore that honour. However, achieving this goal requires a shift from wielding stones to embracing computers and books. Our forefathers and ancestors, who are subjects of worldwide research, shared a message with the world. It is important to create a Jammu and Kashmir that incorporates their ideals,” he said.
“Before I conclude, I would like to inform you that I will be visiting Budgam on the 31st. I urge the District Commissioner to expedite the completion of the hospital, as the land has already been allocated for this purpose,” he announced.
