JAMMU, Feb 27: Demanding enhancement of relief to Rs 10,000 per month as was recommended by State Government to Centre, a demonstration was staged by relief holders and over aged youth in front of Press Club here today.
Raising slogans in support of their demand the protesters said that enhancement of Rs 400 per soul was a cruel joke with them in view of the present price hike.
The demonstration was led by Ravinder Koul. The protesters with placards and flags in their hands accused the Government of betrayal.
Addressing the protesters Mr Kaul said that a deputation of the relief holders which called on Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah recently was assured by him that the issue will be taken up after the Parliament and State Assembly Session is over.
He expressed the hope that Chief Minister will keep his promise and solve the issue after the Parliament Session is over.
Kaul also demanded rehabilitation of over-aged displaced youth who are the worst sufferers of terrorism as their future is totally bleak.
Others who addressed the demonstration included Kuldeep Pandita, Mahesh Dhar and Comrade Mohan Lal.
