Nearly 15000 disabled employees in various departments and ministries of the Union Government will feel happy with the recent order issued by the Ministry of Personnel in which it has said that some privileges and preferences will be given to the disabled employees as an act of humanitarianism. The identification of jobs, post recruitment and pre-promotion training, assistive devices, free accessibility, preference in transfer or posting, special casual leave, etc have been identified as areas which require special attention.
Now that the Union Government has taken a good humanitarian step in providing some more facilities to the handicapped and disabled employees, we would suggest the State Government to follow suit. Of course some facilities have already been provided to the disabled employees of the State but a revision of these facilities has to be made upwards and on the pattern of the Central Government order. We hope that the State Government will take up the matter at proper levels and take a decision that will be favourable to disabled employees. We would suggest that apart from these facilities, the disabled employees are also provided more facilities in the area of health and medical aid because many among them are in need of medical support from time to time.
