JAMMU, MAY 26: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) J&K Dr. Arvind Karwani to review the necessary arrangements for Jyeshta Ashtami, Mela Kheer Bhawani Yatra-2026 falling on 22 June, 2026.
Deputy Commissioner Relief, Assistant Commissioners Relief, Chief Accounts Officer, Zonal Officers/Camp Commandants, Camp Incharges of Kashmir Valley and representatives of various social and religious organisations associated traditionally with the conduct of the Yatra for Mata Kheer Bhawani Tulmulla (Ganderbal), Mata Kheer Bhawani Ashthapan Tikker (Kupwara), Khanabari Devsar (Kulgam), Kheer Bhawani Asthpan Manzgam (Kulgam) and Mata Ragnya Bagwati Asthapan Trust Logripora (Pahalgam) participated.
The representatives of various organisations raised issues for the successful conduct of the Yatra such as requirement of transportation, boarding and lodging arrangements, water supply and power supply, sanitation, installation of tents, essential commodities, availability of blankets, medical facility, availability of fire tenders, repair of roads and lanes, cultural events and security arrangements.
The chair highlighted the importance of Mela Kheer Bhawani Festival, particularly for the Kashmiri Pandit community and assured that every effort shall be made in coordination with the concerned district and divisional administration to put in place necessary arrangements for Mela Kheer Bhawani Yatra well in time and make it better than last year.
The senior officers of Relief Organisation were directed to visit the various sites of Yatra in Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kulgam and Kupwara districts to assess the requirements on ground and coordinate with the concerned officers and social and religious organisations to ensure the necessary arrangements are in place well in time before the commencement of the Yatra.
