SRINAGAR, Apr 13: CPI (M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami today said that casual labourers working in Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, who had donated tracts of land in various parts of the State for setting up water reservoirs, collection tanks, sumps, sluice value chambers and quarters, are without wages for months together.
Tarigami said the wages of these casual labourers are pending for months together. It is these people who run the filtration plants and denying them their dues is injustice. “Similarly, casual labourers working in Power Development Department (PDD) Forest, Agriculture Production, Tourism and other departments are also pending for months causing immense hardships to them,” he added.
He emphasized that Government must not only pay them their pending wages immediately, but their genuine demand of regularization must be speeded up.
Tarigami further stressed upon the Government to clear the joining file of hundreds of teachers who were selected by JKSSB by releasing final list in August 2018, as the file is gathering dust in Secretariat for months causing uncertainty and anxiety among the candidates.
