JAMMU, Aug 13: Terming the detention of mainstream political leaders even on Eid as unfortunate and undemocratic, senior leader of National Conference and former Minister, Ajay Sadhotra stressed upon the Government to release them without any delay.
In a statement issued here today, Sadhotra said National Conference has always played vital role for betterment of the people of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh and also for the country. “NC leadership always rose to the occasion but it is sad that by arresting former Chief Ministers, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, BJP Government has sent wrong signal down below,” he added.
The senior NC leader said that Government is making tall claims that everything in the State is normal but if it is true they must release mainstream political leaders immediately otherwise their claim shall prove to be wrong and hollow.
Sadhotra said thousands of NC leaders and workers during militancy from 1989 to till date have sacrificed their lives. Is arrest of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah and other NC leaders is reward for sacrifices for the nation?, asked NC leader. He emphasized the need of releasing all the main stream political leaders in the interest of the people of the State and nation and also initiate dialogue with stakeholders for restoring peace.
