JAMMU, July 7: The Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) has accused the Government of its failure in addressing the problems of the working class in the State especially after showing them the green pastures when erstwhile State of J&K was converted into two UTs.
In a joint statement issued by EJCC leaders Aijaz Khan from Srinagar and Suresh Sharma from Jammu respectively alleged that Government has miserably failed in solving the problems of employees with the result they are worst sufferers.
They said the latest example is of over 25000 employees of State Forest Corporation who are the worst victim of this new dispensation. The SFC was a sound organisation in JK being run on scientific lines to exploit and dispose off timber as per SFC Act 1978 but this organisation was suspended at a time when the employees were demanding pension, implementation of 7th Pay Commission and holding of DPC which has not been conducted for the last over three years, they added.
They said the employees were also demanding equating of DA by releasing balance 39 PC and release of 6th P C arrears. The decision of Government to convert this organisation into a company further aggravated the problems of the employees. Khan and Sharma lamented the dilatory tactics of the MD as well as of the Government to settle their pending issues.
They said, the employees are at the verge of starvation for want of release pending pay of last three months. It is criminal on the part of employer to with-hold pay for such a long time when poor employees are undergoing difficult conditions due to COVID 19. Formation of new FDC may take time, it is prime duty of the Managing Director to release pay, even by taking over draft from the bank till grant in aid is released by the Government as already sanctioned by Government of India. Khan and Sharma didn’t rule out conspiracy to delay the pay so as to tarnish the image of present Government by some officers and warned that if the pay is not released immediately EJCC will support any program of JK Forest Corporation Employees Forum (JKFCEF) and the responsibility shall entirely of the Government. They appealed Lt. Governor and Chief Secretary for their intervention in the matter.
