The meeting said that Standing Committee constituted on public grievances by Government of India has considered the demand and has recommended for 5%, 10% and 15% of the pension to its pensioner’s from the age of 65 ,70 and 75 years for which they have asked to all their departments for furnishing number of pensioners at the age group of 65,70,75,80,85,90,95 and 100 years along with financial implication.
It was further stated that during hard days of COVID 19 price hike, the pensioners suffered badly and appealed to the Government for release of DA arrears pending with the Government for the period January 2020 to June 2021.
It said the percentage of pension fixed may not fulfill the requirements of the old age pensioners as they are spending their whole pension on medicines, treatment and other unforeseen expenditures even they can’t bear the expenditure of their livelihood.
It appealed the Government that the pensioners of Central as well as UT may be given 100% pension at least from the age of 70 years. It demanded modification of SRO 138 issued by J&K Finance Department on 25.04.2016 so that old age pensioners can get 100% pension from the age of 70 years.
