Rehbar-e- Baghbani aspirants demand finalization of draft policy

Srinagar, Jan 9: The horticulture graduates today demanded finalization of the draft policy of ‘Rehbar-e-Baghbani’ to facilitate their absorption and engagement in the horticulture department.
A delegation of these graduates told Excelsior that in the year of 2018 the Directorate of Horticulture J&K issued an advertisement inviting applications from the concerned eligible applicants for being absorbed/engaged as Rehbar-e-Baghbani in the department concerned under the already framed over scheme of “Engagement of Horticulture Professionals of the UT of J& K as Rehbar-e-Baghbani”.
They said that nothing worthwhile has been done in the matter so far by the higher-ups in the administration “for some ulterior motives” even though more than two years period has elapsed since the issuance of the said advertisement.
“The graduates, despite possessing professional degrees such as B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD, PDF in Horticulture Sciences, stand neglected and unemployed for more than a decade now and are at the threshold of crossing the age limit due to faulty eligibility criteria and non-referral of posts (gazetted and non-gazetted vacancies) to the concerned recruitment agencies,” Wasim Yousuf Mir, president of the JK Horticulture Graduates Union told Excelsior.
He said that the higher-ups have been turning a deaf ear towards their grievances and made them run from pillar to post “as a measure of sabotage while having some ulterior motives in the background.”
