JAMMU, Apr 6: In an impressive gathering, thousands of refugees from West Pakistan took pledge to support and vote BJP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election and defeat the Congress for its mis-deeds and policy of fooling the people.
This pledge was taken in presence of BJP State president, Jugal Kishore Sharma, who is also party candidate for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency, when he reached at Swankha to meet and address a rally of refugee people.
This rally was organized by a prominent West Pakistani Refugee leader Labha Ram Gandhi.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the past Governments of Congress, National Conference and PDP at the Centre as well as in the State have been treating the refugees as foreigners and have never treated them as human beings. They have been deprived of even all the basic rights enjoyed by other citizens living in other parts of the country. It is most unfortunate that their three generations have perished while agitating for grant of citizenship rights. The glaring example of discrimination with them is that Muslims from Tibet, who came here from foreign soil, have been well settled and promoted in the Valley, he added.
Jugal said the Congress has been succumbing to the desire of Valley based ruling class and not ensuring the same treatment to the refugees from West Pakistan and PoJK, who have settled in the State as compared to those who settled in rest of the country.
Labha Ram Gandhi said that the Congress has repeatedly betrayed the refugees and is responsible for our plight. The Congress always mislead the refugees on false promises but in practical it did nothing for the grant of citizenship rights to the refugees from West Pakistan. He said “this time we have to support and vote for BJP as its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has time and again assured that the problems of refugees will be settled on priority”.
The refugees, on this occasion, raised their hands and pledged in one voice to vote and support BJP.
Chander Prakash Ganga, H S Pummi, Jaswant Singh, Dr. Kuldeep Raj, Darshan Lal, Surinder Kumar, Bahadur Lal, and Mrs Anu Sharma also addressed the rally.
