JAMMU, Dec 25: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand inaugurated the newly constructed Lift Irrigation Scheme Jogwan which was completed at a cost of Rs. 2.12 crore and will create 280 hectare potential agriculture land. This is expected to give a major relief to the people of the area which comprised mainly of border and backward terrain.
The Minister also laid foundation stone of Lift Irrigation Scheme Nud Behra which would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 96 lakh. The scheme is expected to irrigate 111 hectare of land in the catchment area after completion.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Coalition Government is working hard to mitigate the sufferings of the people with focus on equitable development of all the three regions of the State.
He said that it was the endeavour of the Government to provide all basic facilities to the people on priority basis, adding that a well conceived programme has been devised to address all issues in a phased manner. He said that provision for better healthcare, education, PHE and road connectivity are the priority sectors for the Government. He sought people’s cooperation in implementing all Government schemes so that benefits of such schemes reach to the needy. He asked them to maintain close liaison with the administration and project their demands in most legitimate way.
Tara Chand directed the officers to speed up the pace of work of all the ongoing projects which have been taken up in Khour block and adjoining areas so that they can be completed in a stipulated time frame. He also emphasized the need for making judicious use of funds. He asked the officers to use quality material in the construction work, adding that laxity would not be tolerated.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma and other senior officers of various departments also accompanied with the Deputy Chief Minister.
