Red Cross Society launches blankets distribution drive

JAMMU, Jan 16: As the winter chill turns harsh with each passing day, Red Cross Society Jammu has launched a special blankets/warm clothes distribution drive in Jammu and its surroundings to help poor/ less privileged people during these severe cold nights.
From the last about one week, the blankets distribution drive is being carried out in different areas of the City, including Shalamar Road, Gole Market, Gandhinagar, Bikram Chowk, Canal Road, Govt Medical College Chowk Bakshinagar, Panjtirthi, Satwari, Bahu Plaza, Bus Stand, Railway Station Road, Bahu Fort area besides other localities. The objective of the initiative is to provide immediate help by way of giving some relief material to the need/ poor to protect themselves from extreme cold conditions, particularly during night hours.
Hony Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, Sat Pal Sharma is personally leading this special drive along with his staff and some volunteers. Sharing his experience, Sharma said that various relief distribution activities are being carried out throughout the year and blankets/ warm clothes distribution, is the most needed and virtuous initiative being under taken.
Secretary, Red Cross Jammu appealed to one and all to help in identifying the poor/ needy, suffering with cold who are really in need of warm clothing/ blankets and communicate to the IRCS office at Kachi Chawni, Jammu. He said IRC staff is performing day and night as relentless soldiers to mitigate the sufferings of the ailing masses.
