Recruitment of SPOs

In view of continuing strike and shut down in Srinagar and the traitors whipping up anti-India frenzy among the people, particularly the youth in Kashmir, security arrangements had to be tightened to enforce law and order in the disturbed valley. Appeals by leaders have not yielded the desired result and the provocative messages of external elements that are aimed at whipping up religious sentiments of the people continue unabated. Naturally the State has to make foolproof arrangement of securing life and property of its citizens.
Home Ministry has ordered recruitment of ten thousand Special Police Officers (SPOs) in J&K. The Ministry will meet the cost meaning salary etc. Of course, this is additional burden on the national exchequer, and if conditions were normal, there was no need to undertake the expenditure on this head. But security and integrity of the Indian State is much more important than just financial considerations. Two purposes are served immediately. One is that the new recruits will be able to give important input in regard to underground or over ground activities of the traitors and seditionists, and secondly, ten thousand families will get the means of subsistence when their earning hands are employed. This is a generous step the Home Ministry has taken. It has been noticed of late that the traitors and seditionists have goaded the militants to attack policemen to scare them away so that they are able to carry on their subterfuge. The State will not allow it. We expect the Police organization to impart adequate training to the new recruits of how they should take on the miscreants and seditionists and how they should handle mob protests. The Government has to build up and consolidate nationalist front against the seditionists and traitors who have been holding entire Kashmir valley at ransom for last two months and more.
