Rebels’ meet: Will crack whip on attendees, warns AAP

NEW DELHI, Apr 13: A day ahead of a meeting called by dissidents Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav, AAP today spelled out its warning to party members that its top-decision making panels would determine what action would be taken against those found accepting the rebel camp’s invitation.
Senior party leader Sanjay Singh said that AAP’s all- powerful Political Affairs Committee (PAC) and its National Executive (NE) would decide the next move in this regard after the ‘Swaraj Samvad’ meet, which is being held tomorrow in Gurgaon.
“Swaraj Samvad is not a party function. The PAC and NE will decide on what action needs to be taken after the meeting,” Singh told reporters.
The National Council, in its meeting last month, empowered the PAC to take disciplinary action against those giving negative statements about the party to the media.
The rebel camp of Bhushan and Yadav, who were ousted from the party’s two top panels last month, are also holding a meeting at Jangpura today to set the agenda for the convention tomorrow.
Several AAP volunteers from other states are expected to participate in the event.
AAP’s Timarpur MLA Pankaj Pushkar, former AAP leader and social activist Medha Patkar, tribal activist Soni Sori and rights activist Aruna Roy are expected to attend the event.
The rebel camp has also said that over 100 candidates who had contested on an AAP ticket in the Lok Sabha polls will attend the event. (PTI)
