REASI, Aug 13: Kanwar Yatra – the sacred pilgrimage which has long been a cornerstone of devotion in other parts of India, was held in Reasi for the first time, drawing a large and diverse congregation of devotees.
The Yatra was led by Mahant Mahamandaleshwar Rameshwar Dass Maharaj, who guided the devotees on their spiritual journey. The pilgrims carried Gangajal-holy water from the Ganges, collected from Haridwar by Kuldeep Raj Dubey (popularly known as Mangu Shah).
The sacred water was destined for the Shivling at the revered Shiv Khori shrine, where it was offered as a symbol of devotion during the holy month of Shrawan.
The Yatra commenced with a ceremonious gathering at the Shiv Mandir in Nai Basti, Reasi. The procession made its way through several key locations, each chosen for its cultural and spiritual significance.
The Yatra passed through the bustling Pouni market, where shopkeepers and locals lined the streets to offer their respects and join in the collective prayers at Ransoo, a village. The final leg of the journey concluded at Shiv Khori where the Kawariyas offered Gangajal to the Shivling.
Following the sacred rituals at Shiv Khori, the Yatra culminated with a grand Langer Prashad activity. “This is more than just a religious event; it is a manifestation of the deep spiritual roots and communal harmony. The response from the devotees has been overwhelming, and it fills us with pride to see such a profound expression of faith,” said Kuldeep Raj Dubey, the key organizer of this Yatra.
The event was marked by the active participation of prominent locals, including Saraf Singh Nag, Sudesh Puri, Yograj Raina, Sudesh Pandotra, Prakash Singh, Sheel Magotra, Sukhdev Singh, Rita Sharma Raina, Mahinder Singh, Raj Kumari, Neena Devi, Ashok Singh, Sanjeev Sharma and Pawan.
