Real issues need to be addressed for peace in J&K: Omar

JAMMU : Reiterating that packages alone are not going to address the issues in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference Working President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said a holistic approach is needed for creating an atmosphere wherein lasting peace shall prevail and people, especially the youth can get opportunities to grow.

“I had told the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in a public meeting during his visit to the state that the people of the state were not looking towards economic packages but wanted peace in the region for endings for all their sufferings,” Mr Abdullah said while speaking to several delegations which called on him here during his brief visit to the winter capital.

Mr Abdullah called for multipronged approach to address various dimensions of the issues involved and said, “regaining trust of the people and instilling a sense of confidence among them is imperative to steer the state to peace, progress and development.” (AGENCIES)
