JAMMU, Feb 21: A grievance cell to receive public feedback about the status of various developmental programmes of the Rural Development Department and complaints if any, will be set up in the department very soon so that an effective monitoring mechanism is set up.
This information was given at a high level review meeting chaired by the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar. Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development, Farooq Ahmed Peer, Special Secretary, Rural Development Department, Sajad Ahmed Khan, Member Secretary, MGNREGA, Pawan Rathore and other senior officers were present.
Highlighting the need for ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of the schemes of the department, the Minister said that the grievance redressal cell would facilitate an effective feedback besides, ensuring day-to-day monitoring which would go a long way in the effective implementation of various welfare programmes.
It was given out in the meeting that the cell would function at the administrative level to receive, not only the complaints and grievances, but observations, feedback and suggestions regarding the work done under various schemes in order to improve the present mechanism / methods adopted by the department.
The cell will be having a core team at the administrative level headed by an Additional Secretary, Under Secretary and it would be supported by Member Secretary, MGNREGA, Deputy Secretary, HRM and Deputy Director Planning. At the Directorate / district level the support team would consist of BDO Headquarter, Directorates and BDO headquarter/ districts.
The meeting was told that every officer will be himself accountable to any complaint pertaining to his block/ district/area of work. The cell would have toll free number and would function during the office time of 9 am to 5 pm.
