JAMMU, Feb 25: A deputation of Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association (RBBA) led by its president Sanjay Gupta today met Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Avny Lavasa regarding Smart City project and expressed their concerns over some issues.
The deputation strongly opposed widening of pavement in Raghunath Bazar while stating that there is already a 7′ wide pavement which is sufficient for pedestrians. The deputation members said if the pavement is further widened it will narrow down the road, which will cause problem to the shopkeepers especially during rainy season, as water will enter their shops.
They also opposed ‘No Surface parking’ as proposed by the Jammu Smart City Limited as parking is the main life line for any business area. The deputation also drew attention of the JMC Commissioner on other important things that need to be incorporated under Smart City Project like ‘Selfie Point’ at Raghunath Temple Chowk, one gate at Raghunath Temple Chowk too on lines of gate at Bharat Mata Chowk, relocation of security pickets from Temple Chowk, etc.
JMC Commissioner gave a patient hearing and assured that all reservation and suggestions will be taken into consideration.
Sanjay Sethi (senior vice president, RBBA), Amit Goel (general secretary), Nitin Gupta (secretary), Ankush Sethi (treasurer), Baldev Khullar (ex-president) and Virinder Puri as well as Ashwani Arora (former office bearers) were part of the deputation.
