JAMMU, June 20: Most of the branches of Guru Ravi Dass Sabha spread across Jammu division today launched a protest against the demolition drive of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) who on the pretext of some court order has made an unsuccessful attempt to demolish 15th Century Guru Ravi Dass Temple.
The Temple complex has both archeological and monumental value, in addition to extreme faith of crores of members of Ravi Dassia Samaj spread all over India including that of Jammu & Kashmir. The Temple of the land was donated by the then ruler of Delhi, Sikander Lodhi to Ravi Dassia Samaj.

Ravi Dassia Samaj of Jammu & Kashmir having population of about four lakh strongly condemned the anti SC and anti-religious action of attempting demolition of the ancient temple of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj and requested the Governor administration to convey strong resentment of the J&K Ravi Dassia Samaj to the Union Government.
“We request the Union Government as well as DDA Officers/officials not to attempt any further demolition drive otherwise Ravi Dassia Samaj from all over world and J&K shall keep no stones unturned to safeguard this religious and historical monument where faith of crores of Ravi Dassia Biradri is attached,” the protesting community members said.
The Biradari members reiterated that any misadventure in this regard by the DDA or Central Government shall have lasting socio-religious and political repercussion all over India.
Those who attended protest demonstration include Sham Lal Basson Corporator and general secretary Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Bahu Fort, Jammu, CL Banal (Retd IGP) chairman Shri Guru Ravi Dass SS Trust, Jammu, Dr Vijay Shivgotra, president Shir Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Bahu Fort Jammu, ML Banalia general secretary Shri Guru Ravi Dass Santsang Society (J&K) and many others.
