JAMMU, Mar 15: Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather introduced a Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Value Added Tax Act, 2005, in the Legislative Assembly today.
While introducing the Bill, the Minister said, “the earlier amendment aimed at providing relief to traders of Salamabad Chakoti and Chakkan-da-Bagh on goods produced/manufactured within the State and sold across the Line of Control (LoC) was made vide Act No.1 of 2012 on February 7, 2012”, adding “in the amendment, it has been observed that instead of Line of Control, Line of Actual Control has been mentioned inadvertently”.
“As the term Line of Control is used in the context of India’s un-demarcated boundary with Pakistan while the term Line of Actual Control is used in the context of India’s boundary with China and the two terms cannot be used interchangeably, the mistake that has crept into the Act needs correction”, the Minister further said.
