SRINAGAR, May 18: Cautioning the people against Opposition’s deceptive politics, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today called for further strengthening the present Coalition Government to steer the State in an era of sustainable socio-economic revolution.
Addressing a public meeting in remote and backward village of Ledan in Tehsil Chadoora, after inspecting several development projects, Mr. Rather said the Coalition Government led by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is making determined efforts to ensure equitable and uniform development in nook and corner of the State with special focus on neglected and back pockets.
“A chain of developmental activities on all fronts is underway in the both urban as well as rural areas to provide best possible basic facilities to the people of the State”, Mr. Rather said, adding that this march to progress doesn’t go well with the opposition, which is desperately trying to hood wink public opinion on frivolous issues.
He asked the people to gauge performance of the Government by the work done on ground and reject the opposition for its double standard and politics of deceit and lie.
Referring to various developmental initiatives taken up in the Charar-i-Sharief constituency, Mr. Rather said the world famous tourist spot Yusmarg and historic Neelanag are being developed as major tourist destinations. He said survey is on to construct Gandola Cable Car Project from Yusmarg to Neelnag and Yusmarg to Bargh to showcase virgin natural beauty of hitherto unexplored tourist spots like Dragtolan Berandub, Ladromarh, Bargah and Neelnag.
He said promotion of tourist in the area will generate employment opportunities for the local youth besides bringing the breath taking beauty of the area on the world tourism map. He also announced to develop a road link between Ledan to Yusmarg to open vistas of business activities for the local youth, adding that Loolipora-Ledan road will be further extended and connected with Watkaloo to build a ring road for giving a fillip to socio-economic activities in this remote and backward area of Budgam district.
He also announced to open one sheep and one animal husbandry units in Ledan to promote cattle population in the area. He also announced to open one medical aid centre in Ledan to provide first aid facilities to the people of this remote area.
Mr. Rather said the basic purpose of the tour was to bring the engineers and officers of the district administration at the doorsteps of the people to take on-the-spot appraisal of people’s grievances so that these could be redressed earnestly.
The locals of Ledan village presented a charter of memorandum and demanded to extend the Watkuloo-Channa Mohalla road upto Kanikoot, upgradation of the Middle School Kralgam, road link from Doba to Yusmarg, timber sale depot at Ledan and new power transformer for Doba.
The District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Khursheed Ahmed, Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Kashmir B. A. Hamal, Executive Engineer R&B, Chadoora, Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad, Chief Medical Officer Budgam, Gurjit Singh, Chief Education Officer, Budgam, Nazir Ahmad, Executive Engineer of PDD and PHE, B.D.O Nogam and concerned engineers and officers accompanied the Minister during the visit.
