JAMMU, June 2: Rashtrawadi Shiv Sena (RSS) held a demonstration against the slow pace of laying of sewerage pipes from Shakti Nagar to Bakshi Nagar Pulli by ERA.
The demonstration was held under the chairmanship of senior leader of the Sena Nathpal Chowdhary, Vipin Hindu, Ashwani Gupta and Rakesh Kak.
The protestors also torched the effigy of ERA and its contractor executing the work. The protestors raising slogans against the authorities demanded immediate completion of work as people have been put to many hardships.
Amit Nayyar zonal president Shakti Nagar and Ashwani Sharma zonal president Top Sherkhania of RSS also addressed the protest.
Nathpal Chowdhary in his address said that the project of laying of sewerage pipes has been going for the long time now and the roads are so much damaged that even no one can walk on it. “ We even do not know that the sewerage project is actually for the benefit of the public or for the trouble of the public. There is total dust pollution in the area and people are facing suffocation as it has added to health hazards, he added.
Rakesh Kak said that the project undertaken by ERA is a total failure. Instead of providing benefit to the people it has added to their woes. The important roads and crossings are dug without any planning and the movement of traffic has been affected, he added.
Kuldeep Luthra, Vikas Dewan,Rajinder Gupta, Ravi Verma, Satir Mehra, Vikrant Sharma and others also addressed the protestors.
