JAMMU, Nov 25: BJP workers today pelted stones and threw black ink on Independent MLA from Langate Engineer Rashid for his controversial beef party sometime back at Domail, about 1.5 kilometers from Bhaderwah when he was travelling to Doda after addressing followers at Dak Bungalow in Bhaderwah.
Reports said Engineer Rashid, who had reached Bhaderwah last night from Kishtwar after travelling from Anantnag via Synthan Pass, addressed few persons at Dak Bungalow in Bhaderwah this morning and then headed towards Doda.
“Hardly had he travelled 1.5 kilometers from Bhaderwah when the BJP workers surrounding his convoy at Domail Road on way to Doda and showed him black flags. Some of the workers mistook an official Ambassador car as the MLA’s vehicle and threw ink at it,” reports said.
Later, realizing that the MLA Langate was travelling in Black Scorpio, the BJP workers pelted stones at it damaging front left wind screen and threw ink at him.
However, police parties led by Additional SP Bhaderwah Amit Bhasin and SDPO Bhaderwah Sajjad Khan immediately surrounded Engineer Rashid’s convoy and safely escorted him away from Domail.
At some distance, Rashid staged dharna for few minutes against attack on him and moved towards Doda.
Police have registered FIR at Bhaderwah police station against the protesters. However, no arrests have been made so far.
