REASI, Nov 8: Villagers in Ransoo today suspended their 5- day long protest late in the evening after the DC Reasi Babila Rakwal intervene into the matter and assured redressal of their grievance over the proposed ropeway for Shiv Khori shrine.
Earlier in the morning, the protesters assembled at the Main bazar and started their protest which was also joined by DDC Reasi Chairman Saraf Singh Nag, DDC member Pouni Kewal Krishan, DDC member Panthal Rajinder Mengi, DDC Pouni B Rita Sharma, Sheel Magotra BJP district president and other Sarpanches and Panches of the area.
While talking to the Excelsior, DDC Chairman Saraf Singh Nag said that the protest was temporarily suspended after assurance from DC Reasi. He further said that a 12- member committee of local people’s will remain in constant touch with the district administration so that the grievances which they have may be sorted out and ropeway project is started as per the old survey.
Pertinent to mention here that the locals in Ransoo were protesting against the change in alignment of the proposed ropeway. In the original survey, which was conducted two years ago, ropeway was to be made from Kotla to Shiv Khori Ransoo. However, a new survey was conducted recently for the ropeway from new Bus stand to helipad Shiv Khori.
Protesters claimed that the locals would suffer due to the ropeway as per new survey because most of the villagers were working as labourer and employed as Pithu, Palki, Ponywala and running local market there.
