Rangpura residents demand blacktopping

SRINAGAR, Aug 25: The residents of Rangpura colony in Zakura area on the outskirts of the city demanded blacktopping of their approach road.
The residents said they have been denied a proper approach road ever since the colony came into being in 2005. They said the road has developed deep ditches and potholes that can prove fatal anytime. “The road is in shambles for the last fifteen years as the area was neglected by the successive Governments. Now we pin our hopes with the Lt. Governor administration,” the residents said.
The residents lamented that the road turns into a cesspool with a slight rainfall. “The stagnant water that remains in the potholes after rain becomes the source of infection and danger of an outbreak of diseases always lingers on our head,” the locals said.
They said that the drainage system which was recently laid in the area has also been damaged by the movement of vehicles. “Lack of macadamization has put extra pressure on the drainage and damaged it at several places,” they said.
