Rangers again open firing in Pargwal

JAMMU, Oct 19: In yet another ceasefire violation, Pakistani Rangers today resorted to small arms firing on forward Border Out Posts (BOPs) along the International Border in Pargwal sector.
“Pakistani Rangers resorted to small arms firing at BOPs along IB in Pargwal sector at 10.30 am today,” official sources said.
“The aim of the Rangers was to prevent farmers from harvesting their crops,” sources said.
As per reports, the areas which came under firing from across the border included Jaman Bela, Rajpura, Maljodha, Chak Phagwari, Deora and Hamirpur Kona in Pargwal sector.
BSF troops retaliated resulting in firing exchange, sources said, adding that there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing.
There has been five cases of ceasefire violation along the international border and Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Poonch districts in the past three days.
Pakistani troops violated ceasefire twice and resorted to small arms and automatic weapons firing on Indian posts along the LoC in Hamirpur sector of Poonch district around 2055 hours on Friday (October 17) morning and night.
On October 18 and 17, Pakistani Rangers resorted to minor firing on BOPs in Makwal and Allah Mai Dey Kothay (AMK) areas in Jammu district.
Earlier, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire in Hamirpur sector twice on Thursday (October 16) night, drawing retaliation from Indian troops.
Before these ceasefire violations, Pakistan had violated the ceasefire by resorting to firing and mortar shelling along the LoC in Sabjian-Kirni-Shahpur belts of Poonch on October 15 in which seven-year-old Riyaz of Kuiyian Gontrian village was injured.
The IB and LoC in Jammu region have witnessed heavy firing and mortar shelling by Pakistani troops since October 1 which have left nine persons dead and more than 95, including 13 security men, injured.
Around 33,000 people have fled their border homes leaving about 150 hamlets deserted along the International Border.
