JAMMU, Aug 29: MLA Bahu, Ch. Vikram Randhawa visited the flood-affected areas of Ward No. 4 and Ward No. 5 of Bermini in Bahu constituency, covering both Upper Bermini and Lower Bermini localities.
During the visit, the MLA observed that many houses were completely damaged and washed away in the floods. In certain areas, houses were buried under heavy debris and landslides caused by the collapse of nearby mountains.
Local residents expressed that this is the first time any politician has visited their area, and they felt encouraged by the MLA’s presence during such a difficult time.
Randhawa interacted with the affected families, listened to their grievances, and assured them that every possible support will be provided. He instructed the Revenue Department and Panchayat officials to immediately assess the damage and ensure compensation is released at the earliest. The MLA also directed the Panchayat authorities to coordinate with concerned departments for clearing debris, restoring connectivity, and taking preventive measures to stop further damage.
He further stressed on the need for temporary shelters, relief camps, drinking water, and medical assistance to be arranged without delay for all displaced families. Randhawa reiterated that no affected family will be left without support, and he will personally monitor the relief and rehabilitation process in Bermini.
