JAMMU, Dec 25: Former Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch. Vikram Randhawa, today handed over a scooty to a specially-abled person of Channi Himmat in presence of Corporator, Raj Kumar.
While speaking on the occasion Randhawa said that some prominent persons of the locality had approached him to provide a financial assistance to one Paramjit Singh of Channi Himmat, who is a Divyang, for purchase of a scooty. Acting on the demand of the prominent citizens Randhawa had provided funds out of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the purchase of a scooty for specially-abled person which has been handed over to him today.
Randhawa said that it is the duty of the society to provide all possible assistance to Divyangs so that they may lead a life as normal human being. He said that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has given a new name to specially-abled people as Divyang instead of Viklang which shows the concern of the Government towards these people.
He said that the Government is committed for the all round development of all sections of the society and Divyangs are an important part of the society which if given a chance can do miracles.
The prominent citizens and the family members of Paramjit Singh expressed their gratitude to the former MLC for his kind support and financial assistance in purchasing scooty.
Others who were present on the occasion include BJP Mandal president, Gandhi Nagar, Neeraj Puri, Choudhary Jagir Singh, Manjit Singh, Satpal Choudhary, Sukhwinder Singh, Parshotam Choudhary, Omkar Singh and others.
