MENDHAR, May 15: Senior National Conference leader and Party president Pir Panjal Zone, Javed Rana criticized the Government for its total failure in proper maintenance and repair of the roads in Mendhar Sub Division of Poonch district.
The senior NC leader stated this while addressing media persons after meeting a delegation of people at the party office here today.
The delegation members raised multiple issues before Javed Rana being faced by the people in Pir Panjal region with main focus on development especially regarding the dilapidated condition of roads.
While terming the demands of the people as quite genuine, Javed Rana has pooh-poohed the J&K Administration for making tall claims about bringing transformation in Jammu and Kashmir post Article 370 abrogation in 2019. He said that all the roads in the zone are lying in a deplorable condition and urged the BRO authorities to take serious note of the issue and improve the condition of these roads before the harsh winters.
Referring to Bhimber Gali- Balnoi road, Surankote- Mendhar road and Sakhimaidan-Kalai road constructed under PMGSY, NABARD and district as well as other plans, Rana said that it needs to be probed as to why these roads reached a horrendously dilapidated condition within one month of construction. He alleged that in case of Balnoi Road there was a well knit conspiracy against its construction which is evident from the fact that BRO kept on evading the issuing of NOC to derail the project despite all the funds being made available.
The former Legislator asserted that the road network across the Pir Panjal are in dilapidated condition as most of the roads which were recently macadamized were in poor condition. He asserted that the other roads which were constructed by PWD and R&B Department were also in poor condition. The officers sitting at the helm of affairs least bothered about the deplorable condition of roads. He resented that nobody in the administration looking over the issues being by the general public across the Pir Panjal zone.
Rana appealed to the LG Manoj Sinha to order probe over all the roads constructed in the last one and half years in the Pir Panjal zone in general and Mendhar Sub Division in particular and blacklist all such contractors who are looting the public money by using substandard material while constructing roads.
