NAGROTA, Sept 13: While pursuing time-bound completion of various developmental projects and welfare programmes in Nagrota Assembly constituency, National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today said that his thrust has all along been to seek priority on such schemes that are need based and beneficial to the rural community.
“Essentially  a rural oriented constituency, impetus is being given to such projects in Nagrota which aim at improving drinking water and power supply, enhancing irrigation facilities and improving road-network”, Rana said during his visit to Simblelehad, Tanda, Sanakra and Kameni Nallah in Jagti Panchayat.
The visit coincided with launch of work on various lanes and drains in Simblelehad, Kameni Nallah and Tanda besides road work from Simblelehad to Sanarka in the constituency.
Rana said that sanitation and dependable road network is imperative for enhancing the quality life of the people and every effort is being made to mobilize developmental agencies to speed up work on various approved schemes. He emphasized the need for quality work and hoped that monitoring mechanism will be strengthened to oversee quality control and pace of work.
The MLA Nagrota assured the people that identified schemes would be taken up as per priority and in a phased manner. However, he said that impetus is needed to be given on restoration works that have suffered damages due to monsoon rains. In addition, he said health sector is required to be revitalized by ensuring adequate diagnostic facilities and medicines in the health institutions. “This is being periodically reviewed and taken up with all concerned agencies at various levels”, he added.
He said that rural development agency has to play its designated role in transforming the constituency by executing various programmes in conjunction with the people of concerned areas. “Since much of the community development is based on area specific needs, the coordination and consultation with local population assumes significance”, he added.
The Provincial President said that development of any area remains meaningless unless the schemes taken up are essentially need based. “Keeping this in view, my effort has been to project the requirements of the constituency, after due consultation with the people in various areas and in different forums.
He listened to the problems of the people during his extensive visit of various areas and assured that these will be taken up with all concerned for earnest redressal.
