JAMMU Aug 25: Highlighting the crucial role of youth in the fast changing political scenario in Jammu and Kashmir, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Tuesday said a decisive battle is needed to be fought against divisive forces, who have taken central stage by exploiting regional and religious sentiments to further their myopic and nefarious agenda.
“This can be possible only when youth come forward in a big way and help in changing the political discourse by forging unity and strengthening the bonds of amity”, Mr Rana said while welcoming a group of Youth Congress workers in the National Conference fold.
He said the challenges confronted to the State were manifold, especially in the wake of policies being adopted by the coalition government, and these can be met by maintaining unity and preserving the age-old communal amity.
The Provincial President said National Conference has all along provided a huge space to youth, which is why it is still known as a youth movement that has withstood vicissitudes of history and test of times. “Now that the State is at the cross roads of history with self seekers and anti-people elements presiding over its destiny, the youth have to change the discourse”, he maintained.
Mr Rana acknowledged that the field of politics was full of thorns but hoped that the youngsters can brave it with all the energy at their command and spirit of serving the people. He described youth as trend setters, adding that they can help in cleansing degenerated political atmosphere by bringing much needed change.
He pledged that National Conference will perform its role in channelizing the energies of youth in proper direction.
Welcoming the new entrants, Provincial Youth National Conference President Ajaz Jan exhorted them to pursue their mission with sincerity of purpose and help out those in distress. By highlighting the problems of common people, the young leaders can leave an indelible mark on the political landscape of the State.
He took the PDP-BJP Government head on for anti-youth machinations like the new job policy and said the anarchical decisions would be fought tooth. “We will continue to fight for the just cause of youth in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh”, he added.
Mr Jan exuded confidence in the wisdom of youth and said given their wide exposure they can play a positive role in harmonious transformation of the society, devoid of hatred and intolerance.
The new entrants made a firm resolve to gear up the party as its foot-soldiers and work for peace and harmonious growth of the society.
Those present on the occasion were Surinder Singh Bunty, Kr.Yashu Vardhan Singh Zeashan Rana and others.
