NAGROTA, Dec 1: Renewing his commitment to sustainable development of Nagrota, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today said that main thrust in the coming six years will be to bridge rural-urban gap and to upgrade facilities in various service sectors.
Mr Rana, National Conference candidate for Nagrota Assembly Constituency, said the focus of development has to be area-specific with priority on such schemes which are beneficial to larger segments of population.
The Provincial President was addressing a series of elections meetings at Chibba, Marh and Bamyal in Nagrota.
He said road connectivity is imperative for economic prosperity of any area and keeping this basic concept of development in view, the effort would to upgrade all the existing roads in a time bound manner and to make all the areas accessible by credible transport. Power, water supply, irrigation and service sectors like health and education will be given impetus in order to make the living of people comfortable, he added.
Mr Rana referred to peoples’ deep yearning for upliftment of the constituency and said this has strengthened his determination to work towards achieving this objective in a phased manner. He said he has never based his politics on rhetoric, as his endeavour has all along been to get things moving on ground. In this context, he mentioned the schemes taken in recent years in his capacity as Member Legislative Council and said these have benefitted the rural community as a whole irrespective of caste, creed or party affiliation.
“Nagrota will develop on fast pace with people lending their support in a constructive manner”, he said, adding the enthusiasm evinced by them in recent years is to be sustained for giving development a new dimension. He said Nagrota’s potential needs to be explored optimally so that it emerges as a most sought after destination across the greater Jammu city.
Mr Rana urged the people to demonstrate their will for change in the upcoming elections by stamping their preference for National Conference which has a track record of public service. He made a mention of various initiatives taken during the past six years, saying these ensured faster development of the three regions apart from heralding peace in the wake of most challenging situation. He said Chief Minister Mr Omar Abdullah has been relentlessly striving for development at the grass roots level and he has succeeded in implementing various schemes aimed at welfare of the people, especially those living below poverty line.
“For ensuring continuity in the development effort, it is imperative to strengthen the hands of the Chief Minister by ensuring success of National Conference candidates in the ongoing elections”, he said while expressing the hope that given the enthusiasm among people the day is not far when Jammu and Kashmir will get a strong and stable Government.
