JAMMU, June 24: Mocking at BJP national president Amit Shah for his candid admission on failures of own party regime in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today sought an explanation from the saffron party to clarify what made them to fail in Government and why didn’t they raise voice against the same earlier.
“He (Amit Shah) admitted before Jammu people that BJP remained fail to do anything during three years in Government here, but what made them to fail in performing despite being an equal partner in the ruling coalition and why didn’t the party earlier raise the issue of discrimination in the State Assembly or Parliament?” he asked while addressing a hurriedly called press conference, here today.
In reference to Amit Shah’s speech, in which he alleged deliberate delay in execution of several important projects in Jammu, Rana reminded that all these projects were under the departments headed by BJP Ministers in the Coalition Government. “How could others stop you in executing Jammu Smart City Project, setting up AIIMS, starting new Medical Colleges, completion of Artificial lake and Tawi River Bank Beautification projects when the departments like Housing & Urban Development, Health & Medical Education, Irrigation & Flood Control were with the ministers of your party?” he asked.
Challenging BJP to list even a single project, conceived and executed during the last three years of the party rule in Jammu and Kashmir, Rana also pooh-poohed Amit Shah’s claim of taking credit for completion of Chenani-Nashri tunnel and Katra Railway Station, which were started by then UPA Government at Centre.
“They even failed to pay salaries to SSA teachers and wages to Anganwadi workers who were to be paid from Central funds,” he added.
Also accusing the BJP of double speak, Rana said the party leadership claimed Mehbooba Government was allowed to collapse because of its soft approach towards militants whereas at the same time they were projecting that more number of terrorists were killed during the last three years.
Taking a cue from Amit Shah’s assertion that BJP was ready to sit in opposition, Rana said the saffron party had realized that they would not get more than five seats in the next elections and hence making such predictions.
In response to a query, the NC Provincial President opined that keeping State Assembly in suspended animation was meant to keep the suspense on and for best practices of democracy, the House should be should and fresh elections be conducted for restoration of normalcy in the State. All the 25 BJP MLAs should resign first because their national president Amit Shah has admitted they failed. Let they go back to the public and seek fresh mandate,” he added.
NC State Secretary Rattan Lal Gupta, former MLCs T S Wazir, Th Kashmira Singh, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, G S Sasan, Choudhry Haroon, Anil Dhar, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Vijay Lochan, Abdul Gani Teli, Sanjay and Ravi Kumar were also present on the occasion.
