NAGROTA, Sept 6: National Conference Provincial President and MLA Devender Singh Rana today announced eight community halls in Nagrota Assembly Constituency for holding various events and activities that encourage participation and engagement of local residents in a big way.
Being taken up under his Constituency Development Fund, the community halls will be constructed at Jandrah, Dhok Waziran, Bain Bajtlta, Showa, Bhagani, Ranjan, Dhanu and Rabta.
Speaking to people at Kore Jagir, during his extensive visit of adore Panchayat, the MLA also announced Rs 7 lakhs, out of his Constituency Development Fund, for various works in Nadore Panchayat. These include Rs 3 lakhs for the local grave-yard, Rs 1 lakh for Scheduled Caste Basti and another Rs 3 lakhs for protection works near Community Hall in SC Mohalla Nadore.
Taking stock of various ongoing schemes, Rana sought restoration of various works post monsoon in the constituency, saying road network has suffered major damages due to incessant rains during the past over two months. He also stressed the need for well-coordinated effort to restore these works besides stepping up development across the constituency.
The MLA said development of Nagrota assumes immense significance because of its close proximity to the Jammu City apart from its huge potential. Being strategically located on the National Highway and in the foothills of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, the constituency offers vistas of opportunities for its development as a viable extension to the fast expanding capital city. This, he said, can be achieved by devising a futuristic plan of the area.
He hoped that a coordinated effort will help in generating an atmosphere wherein the time bound execution of various developmental projects and programmes becomes possible.
The MLA exuded confidence that various developmental departments will strive for translating various schemes and projects into reality. He said delays in execution generally negate the purpose of the projects and therefore there is need for maintaining the deadlines and targets.
During his visit, the people brought to his notice various issues and sought their redressal on immediate basis. They particularly referred to highly dilapidated condition of main and interior roads due to heavy downpour and sought their improvement so that agricultural activity during the upcoming harvest does not get hampered.
