Ramnavmi celebrated with religious fervour in Valley

SRINAGAR, Apr 8: For the first time after 90s, the women folk of Kashmiri Pandits today danced at Lalchowk’s Ghanta Ghar to celebrate the Ramnavmi.
Entire traffic and commuters were lured by the dance and the hymns performed by the enthusiastic Pandits.
Hundreds of devotees carried out a Janki procession from Katleshwar Mandir in Habba Kadal to Lal Chowk which later culminated at the temple.
The devotees performed Bhajan Kirtan and prayed for peace and prosperity of the community.
Ramnavmi, the birthday of Ram, was celebrated across the Valley as special prayers were held at Katleshwar Mandir at Zaindar Mohalla, Habba Kadal here.
People from Pandit community were seen visiting the temple since morning wearing colourful dresses to offer special Puja and Havan.
Spokesman of the, Bhagawaan Gopinathji Trust, Anil Raina, said that to inculcate moral and spiritual values among the masses a nine-day long spiritual activity was organized at the Bhagawaan Gopinathji Ashram in Srinagar on the eve of Navratra.
The spokesman of the trust said that hundreds of devotees thronged the Ashram during these days to take part in the activities in a spirit of true devotion and humility.
Raina said that Hawan started in the evening of March 30 and Puran Ahuti was offered on April 8 at 1 p.m.  “A huge gathering of devotees took part in recitation of about fifteen million mantras during these auspicious days for propitiating the blessings of Mother Goddess for the well being of mankind”, the spokesman added.
“Khema Astuti with regard to Navratra fasts was also organized and conducted roday in which around 120 persons took part”, the spokesman said.
